A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old accused of fatally stabbing a homeless man for cash have been charged with murder, the youngest homicide suspects arrested in Prince George's County this year and possibly the youngest since 2011. ... Authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of the two teens in the slaying of Francisco Sagastizado, 47.
Elias Portillo, 14, of Adelphi, has been charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder, according to Prince Georges County police. The 13-year-old boy, who police are not identifying because of his age, will be charged as a juvenile. ... Department spokesman Cpl. Harry Bond said the teens are believed to be the youngest suspects arrested in a homicide by Prince Georges police in six years.
Sagastizado was discovered stabbed and dead in the woods in the 7800 block of West Park Drive in Adelphi on July 27, police said. Officers had been called to the area at about 8 a.m. ... Sagastizado had been killed when he refused demands for money from the teens, one of whom knew him, police said.
On Thursday, Will Calderon sat next to a glowing memorial in a park not far from where Sagastizado died. The victims photo was tied around a wooden cross propped in front of a tree stump surrounded by flowers and melting candles, which his friends have been lighting since his death.

Police Say Two Md. Teens Fatally Stabbed A Homeless Man After Attempting To Rob Him

Police arrested two teenagers, one of whom is being charged as an adult, in connection to the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Adelphi, Maryland. Prince George's County Police say the teenagers attempted to rob the man before attacking him.
Officials are charging 14-year-old Elias Portillo and a 13-year-old male with the murder of Francisco Sagastizado, who was found suffering from stab wounds in a wooded area on July 27, according the Prince Georges County Police Department.
Police say Sagastizado, 47, had no fixed address. He was pronounced dead on the scene near the 7800 block of West Park Drive. Investigators say it appears that he was stabbed after he refused the suspects demand for money.
Both teens are charged with first and second degree murder. Portillo is being charged as an adult and the other teen, whose identity hasnt been released, is being charged as a juvenile.
Police are asking anyone with information about this case to call 301-772-4925. People can also call anonymously at 1-866-411-TIPS or text PGPD plus your message to 274637.
