My wife and I took a carriage tour ride there last summer there. We had a Romanian carriage driver/tour guide. She was very informative and funny. Doing it to work her way through college.

Unfortunately it's not surprising to hear about the accident. Between the carriages, bikes, and foot traffic .. it gets really hard to move around .. sad story.

I rode around the island on a rented bike last summer. Half of the people easily should not have been on bikes (not to mention that many of the bikes are big and clunky). The poor woman was probably pushed out of the bike lane by some out-of-control child whose parents were just shrugging, or someone from another country who had clearly never been on a bike. There were times when the ride wasn't even enjoyable because there were so many unskilled bike riders. It was a defensive battle.
