'Welcome to Kamala-zoo': Both parties see new political enthusiasm in Southwest Michigan

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Presidential lawn signs have taken on a local twist in Kalamazoo.

Kalamazoo County leaders from both parties say there’s a renewed local interest in the race. They’ve been making connections with voters, who are seeking out yard signs and other merchandise.

Some new Democratic signs, however, go beyond the simple “Harris-Walz” language.

It started when a local leader’s play on words reached Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Kalamazoo County on July 17.

A branding opportunity was born: “Kamala-zoo.”
