Republican former US Rep. Joe Schwarz throws support behind Kamala Harris
(Michigan Advance) In an announcement on Tuesday, Republican former U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz (R-Battle Creek) offered his endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris while calling on Americans to reject Donald Trump.
Schwarz — a Vietnam veteran and surgeon who served in the U.S. House from 2005 through 2007, as well as 15 years in the Michigan State Senate — joins a growing list of Republicans who have opposed former President Donald Trump’s reelection bid.
“This November, Michiganders have a choice between a person who incited one of the worst attacks on American democracy in our history or someone who believes in the Constitution and is fighting to create jobs, lower health care costs and protect our fundamental freedoms,” Schwarz said in a statement. “Now more than ever, we need a principled leader who unites us — not someone who is divisive and who threatens to end democracy. I am proud to help be a part of Republicans for Harris to bring patriotic and sensible Americans together to reject Donald Trump and what he stands for.” ...............................(more)
