A tie no longer: Challenger wins Brooklyn village president seat by 3 votes

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – After a full tally of every eligible ballot cast in the Nov. 5 general election, a tie-breaker is no longer necessary to decide who will be president of the Village of Brooklyn.

Challenger Estella Roberts defeated current village president Terry Mahr by three votes, 321 to 318, during the election, according to the election results completed Nov. 15.

“I’m excited to be returning as the village president again,” Roberts said, noting she filled the office two years ago. “It might take a moment for me to get back into the swing of things. I want to thank village residents for their vote of confidence.”

Mahr declined to immediately comment about the loss, adding she is considering a recount of the results, but has not yet decided on it.
