Pete Buttigieg weighs political future with top Michigan Democrats

Lansing — U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has met in recent months with several prominent Michigan Democrats, some of whom believe the former presidential candidate is considering a campaign for governor.

The ex-mayor of South Bend, Ind. — often referred to as "Mayor Pete" — and his husband, Chasten, moved to northern Michigan about two years ago. Chasten is originally from Traverse City.

Three Michigan Democrats who declined to be identified because of the nature of the private conversations said, within the last two months, they had each spoken directly with Buttigieg, who wanted to get their thoughts on the lay of the land in state politics. Six other sources told The Detroit News they were aware of Buttigieg having similar meetings or discussions recently with Michigan Democratic Party stakeholders and donors.

Some of the sources said they saw the meetings as an indication Buttigieg was seriously looking at the possibility of a gubernatorial run, while others said they believed Buttigieg's plans might have been altered by the Nov. 5 presidential election.

Got his foot in the door and made wide steps into the theater. I think he'll be around for a spell. His moving to Michigan is telling. I am pretty sure he'll be running for something soon.

Pieces of shit run and win in Texas as long as there's an R next to their names, people like Allred and Beto get tossed in the dust bin just because Texas sucks.

6. Maybe he should run for Secretary of State, not Governor

The governor's race may be completely screwed up this time. Detroit's mayor Duggan will run for governor as an independent, and, since he's always been a Democrat, he'll probably siphon votes away from the Democratic candidate.

The formerly-Democratic Duggan may guarantee a Republican will be our next governor.

I don't think he's doing us any favors here.
