24% of Michigan adults say they don't plan to get COVID-19 vaccine, Census survey shows

An estimated 24% of Michigan adults age 18 and older say they are unlikely to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a new U.S. Census survey.

That includes 14% who say they “probably” won’t get the vaccine; 9% who say they “definitely” will not, and 1% who have received one dose but say they are not planning to get the second dose.

Vaccine hesitancy is more common among women, people under age 55, Black residents and those without a four-year college degree, the survey results show.

Conversely, 68% said they “probably” or “definitely” will get the shots (48% “probably” and 20% “definitely”), and 7% of survey-takers were already vaccinated.

Good for them. More for those of us who want it. Srkdqltr Feb 2021 #1

Sad, but that's actually better than the national figure, which is 30 percent. marmar Feb 2021 #5

If they change their minds after I get mine (and after you get yours, Srkdqltr), so much the better.

I'm not sure I appreciate the term "herd immunity", but I like the concept.

I would never wish anyone any harm but there are so many on the TV and other media who don't seem to care. I figure if they don't care, so be it.
I have to worry about myself and my husband. Daughter already got hers as she works for a doctor and has been giving the shots in Ohio.
Grand daughter and her husband and my great grands mother have already had the Covid. Still have 1 son and 3 grands to get the vaccine and 2 great grands (although they are 3). I really worry about them.
I have no worries left for those who willfully don't want to be vaccinated.

That should be close enough for herd immunity don't you think? If the anti-vaxxers want to make the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us, so be it.
