Detroit Aviation Company Violated Regulations In Whitmer Florida Trip, But Won't Face Penalties, FAA Says
The Federal Aviation Administration concluded that a Detroit aviation company that flew Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to Florida in March violated federal air charter regulations, the
Detroit Free Press reports. But the firm won't be penalized.
The FAA investigated and made clear to the operator what the rules are for chartered flights, the agency said in an email to the
Free Press. The operator took steps so a similar situation wont occur in the future.
The FAA began investigating after learning that Air Eagle wasn't licensed to operate a charter flight for the governor's trip.
Deadline Detroit columnist Charlie LeDuff first reported that Whitmer had asked a group of wealthy Detroit businessmen to provide a private plane they share for the trip.
