Oakland County welfare check uncovers 100 animals, many dead, in hot, filthy house

(Detroit Free Press) Animal control officers found 100 animals, 16 of which were already dead, at a home in Independence Township on Tuesday.

The surviving animals have been rescued by the Oakland County Animal Shelter and the Pet Adoption Center.

Officers went to the home for a welfare check after receiving a tip and found 82 cats, eight ferrets, five dogs, four rabbits and a bearded dragon living in “highly unsanitary conditions” and reportedly showing signs of illness.

Many of the animals were “in distress” because the house did not have air conditioning and was hotter than 80 degrees, a Thursday news release from the Oakland County Executive said. ................(more)

2. Hoarders that get caught that abuse animals

Need to be put into a national database of hoarders and be prohibited from having any pet in thier care forever. Pet adoption centers can do a search on them and send them out denying them any animals to abuse and neglect.

I don't care it's a mental illness hoarders should never be allowed to have any pets...none.

I really don't give a shit about the hoarders opinions or feelings.

To me a hoarder claiming to love an animal is a fucking liar.

There needs to be suprise checks on them and checks in thier home to make sure they have no pets for the rest of their lives.

They can get therapy
for thier illness.


But they should never be given or have a pet for as long as they live.

If they aquire pets without a shelter they will get busted during checks ,any pet any hoarder aquires be it a hermit crab or a dog should all be taken away the day the check is done.

Suffering animals should take priority over a hoarders issues
In a sane world.
