Related: About this forumUnemployment still says I owe $13,000!!! HELP!!!
I did everything according the book. I called them all along to make sure I was qualified to receive unemployment. I've been trying to get this resolved since the beginning of August. Filed a protest and still haven't heard a word. I've called them several times and, nothing...
Anyone have any suggestions?

(136,055 posts)but if you're filed a protest, there surely IS one. Retain counsel, if they are threatening you; otherwise, just let it rest.

(2,479 posts)That's why they are here and though you will talk to a lower-level staffer, you are on their radar and they should be able to help. Take names so you have a record.

(1,053 posts)Speak with a Constituent Representative. Most state governor's offices have at least one. Since unemployment is federally funded, but administered by the state, you may have better luck with this route. If that doesn't work, you may have to hire an attorney to straighten it out. Good Luck!!

(16,953 posts)altho not quite as bad. I got my notice in December that my unemployment had been denied...which is of course, bullshit. I owe over $7,000. I'll follow for suggestions.

(220 posts)to offer, but if youre caught in the web of Michigans unemployment insurance agency, I feel for you. My experience with them has led me to swear I will never ever again hire an employee in this state. No point in seeking justice or fairness. Get legal advice and minimize your losses.
