Snyder walks away from Flint poisoning due to faulty indictment process

I agree with this decision. A "one person grand jury" is absurd. I wish this had been done correctly because he is guilty as sin and should be locked up.

Snyder acknowledged that state government had botched the water switch, especially regulators who didn’t require certain treatments. But his lawyers argued that criminal charges were the result of “political persecution” by the attorney general’s office.

Michigan prosecutors typically file charges in a district court after a police investigation. A one-judge grand jury was rare and had mostly been used in Detroit and Flint to protect witnesses who could testify in private about violent crimes.

State prosecutors, however, chose that path in the Flint water saga to hear evidence in secret and get indictments against Snyder and others.

But the state Supreme Court unanimously said a one-judge grand jury can’t issue indictments. The process apparently had never been challenged.

I'm far from being a legal expert, but IMO prosecutors used some puzzling strategies during the 4 years the current AG has been in office. When they inherited the case, it was already in progress, but the prosecution dropped all charges and started over with it.

They ended up using a one man Grand Jury to indict several defendents, which hadn't been done before. The Michigan SC eventually ruled it illegal and thus all the charges were dismissed. The AG office stated they are going to refile charges, but unfortunately the clock is ticking on the statute of limitations.

The Judge making the ruling today to dismiss the charges was nominated by President Biden to the Federal Court and confirmed by the Senate earlier this week.

From what I read, the one man grand jury wasn't applicable. I wish the prosecutors would have given him a grand jury out of Flint. Hopefully he does some time for his purposeful actions against the citizens of Michigan.

Synder was just another terrible Republican doing terrible things.

When are the decent Republicans going to stand up to this and remake their party into something with ideas that build our country up, instead of tearing it apart?

They should blame themselves for being emasculated, and leave woman alone. Their fear is created from their own ideas they have for others.

and that was they path they elected to take.A strategy that the SC dismissed unanimously. and may mean they ultimately get no convictions.

Take solace in the fact that Synder wants it over with more than we do, but he'll spend more time in the HELL of his creation.

In Flint.,

A girl I dated in high school many decades ago- was working as a night security guard inside MacLaren Hospital in 2014. She had worked there like seven years. And one day she got sick, and she was hospitalized, and she died in like two days. Legionaries. But it was before they knew it was Legionairs- so they just called it pneumonia. Died just like that. Bang. She was divorced and left like 7 kids, some just like age 10.

Because she was an employee, but not a hospital employee, she doesn’t even show up now on the number of Legionaurs’s deaths back in 2014-15. Sigh.

Now Rick walks free.

Sadly- there is no Justice.
