Surging Detroit Lions are the talk of the NFL: 'Nobody wants to play 'em'

(Detroit Free Press) The more the Detroit Lions win, the more they become one of the top few storylines in the NFL.

That was the case Monday morning after their thrilling 20-17 win Sunday over the New York Jets in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Lions (7-7) have roared back with three straight wins and have won six of seven to climb firmly into the NFC playoff race. They have a 41% chance to make the postseason, according to fivethirtyeight.com, and are favored over Washington (35%) and Seattle (30%) to grab one of the final two spots. The New York Giants (8-5-1) have an 87% chance after their 20-12 road win over Washington on Sunday night.

ESPN's "Get Up" show spent a segment on the Lions' turnaround and provided their analysis on how this has happened, who gets the credit and why they're a dangerous team moving forward. ................(more)

I do get a chuckle now thinking of all the sports gurus and talking heads that ran Lions head coach Dan Campell down when he was hired for saying this at his first press conference:

Kind of ironic he became so smart so soon

Even Jared Goff "has gotten better" according to the gurus.SMH

If not the Browns in the Super Bowl, why not the Lions?

I do not think I will see a Super Bowl with Cleveland in it, oh well.

so a really good chance of going 2-1 over that short stretch. Even if they don't make the playoffs, the Lions should finish above .500, which is well deserved and I feel good for Dan Campbell.

But Detroit is not going to hang with the best teams in the league, more often than not. You can only go so far with Goff at QB.

I think there's some Detroit bias in that 3-0.

It's certainly possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.

And that sets up a HUGE final regular season contest against Green Bay next weekend at Lambeau.

May the best team win.

Defense gave up bomb after bomb. 317 yards to Zach Wilson who recently was a 3rd stringer.
