Pepsi created a cola-infused hot dog condiment and it's coming to Detroit's Comerica Park

Hard pass on this one.

DETROIT -- According to the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, Americans will consume more than 150 million hot dogs on July 4.

But anyone at Comerica Park in Detroit will get to spice up their dog with something special: Pepsi Colachup, the world’s first Pepsi-infused condiment.

Pepsi is teaming up with the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees for exclusive in-stadium sampling during the team’s home games. In Detroit, hot dog enthusiasts can do so in Section 139 of Comerica Park.

“Pepsi has long been part of American culture and its cool crisp taste has been a favorite beverage choice for generations of Americans. We have always known that hot dogs taste better with Pepsi, and now the experts think so too,” said Jenny Danzi, Senior Director, Pepsi TM. ...............(more)

Just asking. It may be some nouvelle cuisine thing for all I know.

Marinades make excellent dipping sauces.

But that main point is that the flavors work well together.

Makes the meat "most tender". Never tried cooking with it myself, but her bbq is delish!

Applesauce for pork chops is a classic.

Pineapple glaze on ham.

Hell, ketchup is basically candied tomato puree.

Sugary cola flavor? Why not?

I haven’t put ketchup on a hot dog since I was 10, probably.

100% agree about ketchup not belonging on hot dogs.

IMO, Mustard, Onions, and your choice of Chili, Slaw or Sauerkraut.

Every Monday for four years (high school). One person would get a serving of slaw and share at the table. Usually could load 3 dogs with one dish!

My best friend and I made Poor Boy BBQ sauce which was ketchup with Coca-Cola. I switched Coke out for A&W Root Beer which gave it more bite and added cinnamon and garlic powder and vastly improved it, but he said it wasn't Poor Boy BBQ sauce once you started getting "fancy."
