Minnesota purchases Not-Reaching Pouches to help reduce deadly force encounters ...

OwMyPopehat Retweeted

Just the Minnesota Department of Safety stepping up to make sure fewer residents are harmed by their fellow public servants.

We recently purchased some Not-Reaching Pouches to help reduce deadly force encounters between law enforcement and citizens during traffic stops. The pouches store a driver’s license, and insurance card in plain sight in the vehicle on an air vent or other visible location.

From ordering the driver to get out of the car anyway?

This is absurd.

Those are the drivers getting shot, and those are the only drivers who will use them.
Maybe the MnDPS could just tell the cops NOT to shoot POC drivers when they're getting the documents that were asked for.

I've never once been asked for my registration in Minnesota. Only license and proof of insurance. (I haven't been stopped for years, have things changed?)

Thirty+ years ago my friend & I were on a road trip & she got pulled over in Nevada. The cop asked for registration and we both looked at him in blankly, finally telling him Minnesota didn't require it.

Well the cop took her license and insurance card & I think he may have checked out the story about the registration. When he came back to the car he handed the documents back, then said "If I ever decide to steal a car, I'm doing it in Minnesota." Then let her off with a warning for speeding.

of the registration in the car even though they also have tabs on the plate. I would assume this is the card the state sends when it's time to renew the tabs.
