Why the silence on a mass shooting?

I had thought this would have been all over DU. Three shooters and more victims than at the recent Kroger.
Is it because Minnesota is "just" a flyover state?

3 men in custody after 1 killed, 14 hurt in St. Paul bar shooting

Three men are in custody Monday morning in connection with a fatal shooting at a St. Paul bar Sunday.

Police said a woman was killed and 14 other people were hurt by the gunfire at Seventh Street Truck Park bar, which is about a block away from the Xcel Energy Center.

The family of Marquisha Wiley has identified her as the woman who died. The Ramsey County medical examiner confirmed the identification Monday, adding the 27-year-old woman was from St. Paul.

The people inside the bar Sunday morning told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS there were moments they'll never be able to forget.

is going to be thinner. Sunday news shows are set in advance and change only for really huge breaking news, so it didn't hit nationally. I agree that part of it is location -- not just Minnesota, but St. Paul, too. OTOH, by this time, journalists should have found some of the wounded to talk to.

I saw it on ABC and heard NBC also covered it on the evening news broadcasts.

I can find it as a headline or major story everywhere except CNN.

Besides last week there were several threads about how crime is actually down.

It's also in part because it's in a bar, and there's a tendency for people to think that when shootings happen in bars, it's due to some existing conflict between people there.

The 'mass shootings' that really make the news tend to be the ones that seem more random, where some nutter just up and decides he (it's nearly always a he) wants to create carnage ... OR ones where there is an element of racism, sexism (or sex), or there are children involved.

Sad fact is there's so many that only the one's that make for an 'interesting story' in some sense end up covered by the national news.

It's gotten so, other than as local news, it would be like breathlessly reporting that the sun rose this morning.
