What's the idea of having the driest winter and then snow on the Spring Equinox?

I recall in the late 80's walking across a frozen lake in March. Not at all unusual except my friends and I wore shorts because it was near 90 degrees.

8. I remember MSP being closed for a while on April 15th because of a 10 inch snow fall.

It was sometime in the early 70's, I think.

10. I remember a huge storm around the 13th or 14th of April one year

so bad that the USPS stopped delivery and the IRS gave people in Minnesota & the Dakotas an extra day to file their taxes
