A December thunderstorm

I don't remember these before. It's strange to have a rain storm so late in the year.

1. But it is NOT related to global climate change.

In our area of Illinois, we have had numerous 100 year rains in the past few years. Again, simply a coincidence that all of the things predicted by climate scientists are happening.

2. They happen once in awhile. There's even a thing called "thundersnow"

which is unusual, but more common in late winter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thundersnow What's odd about this one (and I'm in the middle of it right now) is how warm it is: 54F.

5. Yes, I was wondering if other Minnesotans

remembered rainstorms this late in the year. I don't.

15. Not very many when you didn't have to worry the temp was going to plunge and everything turn to ice.

I remember a January rainstorm years ago that turned to ice then snow. It was a mess.

I don't remember walking out to my garage in a November drizzle and noticing how warm it was.

Kidding aside, I remember a thunderstorm and tornado the day before Thanksgiving growing up in Alabama.

4. It's nearly December

but I'm in Minnesota. That's a very different climate from Alabama.

12. Except....we will be getting a thunderstorm here as well.

It will hit N. Alabama and Tenn. in a bit, the tail of it is aimed where I live.

Looking at the radar, it appears yours is not connected to the big one which is covering most of the eastern part of the country.
And rare for here this time of year.
As is high 70's this month..
this is the kind of storm we usually get in spring...except last year we got it in Feb.

11. We're getting through

A November that hasn't dropped below freezing once. Nov is usually one of our coldest months.
BUT as the maggot says......
Climate change is bunk.

14. Not sure what all the sacasm covers, but it has been below freezing 5 times in MPLS

this November. Points north have been colder, of course.

And November is behind Dec, Jan, and Feb in terms of coldest.

But no doubt it has been warmer than average.
