For 20 years Ive wanted to flip this seat. Patty Wetterling, El Tinklinberg, Jim Graves all lost to GOP Bachman or Emmer. Does GOP run stealth candidates as DFL to keep it red? Am I being paranoid? Now the only DFL opponent to Tom Emmer is Ian Todd and it seems hes not even trying. Ive written to him about his lukewarm candidacy and got a vague response. I wish Al Franken would run, but thats a fantasy.
Frustrating, with the right candidate it could be blue again.

(8,694 posts)Todd only has 400 followers on Twitter and wont get a verified check mark so people know he is the real candidate. I have more followers than him and Im nobody. Not running in the most critical mid-term election in years. He hasnt Tweeted in 6 days, essentially no SM presence at all. Emmer is basically running unopposed, which explains all his sucking up to Trump in Duluth. Ugggh

(423 posts)I dropped him a follow on Twitter but it doesn't like he uses it as often as he should be. Ballotpedia doesn't have any information about him either.

(25,342 posts)I think Jim Graves is actually a closet Republican. He's ruining Uptown with crappy building projects like the Moxy hotel http://moxy-hotels.marriott.com/hotels/minneapolis-uptown.
It's also gerrymandered up the wazoo, which helps keep right-wingers in power.

(8,694 posts)I met Patty Wetterling when she ran against Michelle Bachman. She was campaigning with Elizabeth Edwards and I shook both their hands. Amazing women, both of them.

(3,418 posts)I live about a mile from the border and Elison is my congressman. He usually gets over 75% of the vote. If you combined the the fifth and the sixth the majority would be Democratic. If they get a good candidate the seat could be won, but it's an uphill battle and it seems like the only hope is that the incumbment really screws up. It's one of the worst gerrymandered districts in the country.
