but still, the DFL is outpacing them. Though we had more interesting contests.

Hennepin & Ramsey account for more than 1/4 of the population, so it may still be too early to tell. I suspect that is why Ellison is out to a commanding lead right out of the door (his district was mostly in Hennepin Co.) - I am expecting that lead to shrink, but probably not enough to lose.

Walz doing well in the Twin Cities his a good sign for his campaign - my district was pretty evenly split between Walz and Murphy in the Feb. caucuses.

and based on the totals in the governor's race. About 200,000 more DFLers have voted than Republicans.

Lots more votes in the DFL primaries in 2016 yet Trump came dangerously close to winning the state.

I think Democrats are more motivated to vote in the primaries. You've heard the old saying - "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line." A lot of Repubs don't care who wins the primary - they just show up to vote for their candidate in November.

Winona County saw a turnout of 25 percent of eligible voters, which is about 5 percent higher than the 2014 midterm primaries. Of the 6,849 ballots cast, 4,250 of them picked candidates in the DFL primaries, while 2,540 voted on the Republican side.
