Keith Ellison lists 12 voter 'rights' amid potential harassment at the polls

Aware of concerns over potential voter harassment or intimidation — or just confusion over the law — Attorney General Keith Ellison on Tuesday pushed out a multimedia message outlining 12 voter “rights.”

Some of the items aren’t so much rights as they are clarifications during an unprecedented election, with misinformation and a pandemic swirling.

While all the elements are grounded in state or federal law, several of those outlined by Ellison, a Democrat, directly respond to statements made by President Donald Trump, a Republican, who has sought to sow confusion over some aspects of the election process, from mail-in voting to the peaceful transition of power afterward, should Trump lose.

The messages from Ellison’s office, which include a video, never mention Trump by name or either party. But the implication is clear.
