Former Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton announced on Sunday that he has married.
In a Facebook post, Dayton wrote that after twenty years of bachelorhood, he has married Ana Orke, now Ana Dayton. At 32, she is more than four decades younger than Dayton, who will turn 74 next month.
Ana Dayton worked for Hillary Clintons presidential campaign during the 2008 primaries and for Daytons gubernatorial campaign in 2010, according to the post. The two lost touch and then ran into each other a couple of years ago in Minneapolis, and the rest is happy history, the former governor wrote.
The post acknowledged the age difference: The truth is, the feelings that developed between Ana and me, given our age difference, surprised us too, at first. But as we grew to know each other, we realized that the love binding us is far deeper and more meaningful than the years that separate us.

(5,281 posts)20 to 30 year age differences. I know at least 4 couples where he is 20 to 30 years older than she is. One couple got married when they were both graduate students, one couple he's quite rich but she comes from money (although not as much as his), one couple she was working as a travel agent and he kept bouncing from job to job (finally settled down working at a casino and has been there for 15 years now), and one she just finished dental school and he's a professor when the got married.
Personally, I don't understand the attraction from either side.

(28,471 posts)He did well financially but couldn't be called rich.
They had a happy marriage but she was only 52 when she was widowed. Though, my dad was only 4 years older than my mom and she was widowed at 41. Neither Mom or may aunt (who was my dad's sister) ever remarried.
