Ex-Gov. Haley Barbour's son convicted of simple assault in Washington

The youngest son of former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour has been found guilty of simple assault involving a 2015 incident in Washington.

Reeves Barbour was convicted Thursday by a judge in a non-jury trial in the District of Columbia Superior Court. Earlier this year, his first trial ended in a hung jury and a mistrial was declared.

Barbour faces a maximum six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Judge Craig Iscoe set sentencing for Aug. 21.

Iscoe delayed sentencing at the government's request to allow a victim impact statement to be obtained.
