Ex-politician out on felony probation arrested on gun charge
CORINTH A former Mississippi politician who pleaded guilty to embezzlement has been arrested again, accused of violating probation by possessing guns that he sold to a pawn shop.
Corinth police tell news outlets that 46-year-old Jimmy Dallan "Dal" Nelms' name showed up on a routine check of pawn shop sales.
Convicted felons may not possess firearms in Mississippi.
Nelms pleaded guilty in 2015 to five counts in a 156-count indictment accusing him of turning in false work orders. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 18 suspended. He was released on probation this year.
Nelms was taken to the Alcorn County jail July 27, with a probation violation hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
