All clear given after portion of Walnut Grove evacuated due to major gas leak

WALNUT GROVE, MS (WLBT) - A portion of the town of Walnut Grove was evacuated around 5:30 p.m. for a gas leak on New Years Eve.

According to the mayor of Walnut Grove, Brian Gomillion, the accident at Pearl River Propane.

According to the plant manager Barry Conn, 255 gallons of liquid propane was spilled and eventually dissipated.

Mayor Gomillion said about 40-45 homes and two businesses were evacuated but no injuries were reported.

The accident happened at Pearl River Propane when a propane truck being loaded fell on top of the other damaging the valve.
