As Washington University recovers from presidential debate, students engaged but moving on

ST. LOUIS • Washington University’s campus was quiet and serene Monday, just hours after one of the most watched events in the world touched down.

The buzz that had been palpable for most of the week leading up to the second presidential debate was gone – some parts of campus looked as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened over the weekend.

Other parts still showed signs. The empty Fox News and MSNBC stages standing outside Bauer Hall were reminders that, for one night, the university hosted an event an estimated 63 million television viewers tuned in to see.

A few students described Monday’s calm atmosphere as something like a collective hangover.
