Tax refund questions continue pouring in to auditor's office
Calls continue pouring in to Auditor Nicole Galloway's office from Missourians with questions about their income tax refunds.
More than 2,000 calls and emails have been logged at the auditor's office, spokeswoman Gena Terlizzi told the News-Leader on Wednesday.
Galloway first asked Director of Revenue Joel Walters on June 6 to note that more than 1,000 Missourians used her office's whistleblower hotline to report delays receiving tax refunds and concerns about customer service.
"They report long wait times, disconnected calls, the inability to speak to a representative while seeking status information on their refunds, and receiving a refund after 45 days without receiving interest," Galloway wrote to Walters. "Missourians are becoming understandably frustrated by the delay and I urge you to take all necessary steps to complete refund processing as quickly as possible."
