New Missouri law curbs some whistleblower protections, so auditor highlights her hotline
JEFFERSON CITY State Auditor Nicole Galloway on Tuesday highlighted her office's whistleblower hotline after a new law took effect Monday curbing whistleblower protections for public employees.
Lawmakers inserted the language into Senate Bill 43, which includes more widely known provisions that raise the bar for those suing for discrimination in Missouri.
The language dealing with discrimination lawsuits is at the center of a "travel advisory" issued this summer by the NAACP.
"The part that we're talking about here today got significantly less attention," Galloway, a Democrat, said at a news conference. "My whistle blower hotline is open and available for individuals to share information on waste, fraud and mismanagement of taxpayer dollars."
