Greitens resignation changes little; Missouri's wounded workers still have a war to fight

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens’ resignation amid a flurry of scandals stemming from his extramarital affair, alleged campaign finance violations and the operation of his dark money “charitable” organization A New Missouri was a small victory for Missouri workers who have been under constant attack since he took office.

His resignation speech at a hastily arranged press conference on May 29 was full of the usual “I’m the victim here” vitriol one would expect and the same deceptive dressing he used throughout his 17-month term to cloak the real harm he has done to workers.

Greitens set the tone for anti-worker legislation in the Missouri Legislature, letting it be known that any bill that boosted businesses, no matter how harmful to workers, would win his support.

In his resignation remarks, he said proudly that during his 17 months as governor his goal was “taking Missouri in a new and better direction.”

1. I think Grietens (mini-trump) is pure trash and cut from the same cloth as trump.

Not sure how new governor Parsons will work out but he seems to have the same anti labor stance with regard to "right to work" laws to start. One good thing, for now at least, he hasn't been seen firing machine guns and other macho bullshit like Greitens. However he is a republican so not really much hope for advances for the average citizen.

2. I believe as you do that Parsons will be anti-labor

that said he has made some outreach efforts to local leaders around the state to hear what they have to say about their needs. I would give the guy at least a little slack in that he is at least trying to seem like he might be interested in Missouri as opposed to just himself. Certainly his views will be conservative, but for the moment he is head and shoulders above Greitens and his "all about me" methods.

3. He does seem to be a decent sort and not a narcissist like Greitens.

I am anxious to see how he intends to deal with the problems plaguing our urban areas. He comes from a rural, agricultural background and as you said, he is definitely a conservative, but I guess only time will tell and we always hope for the best.
