(28,270 posts)Absentee voters must provide one of the following reasons for voting absentee:
Absence on Election Day from the jurisdiction of the election authority in which such voter is registered to vote;
Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability, including a person who is primarily responsible for the physical care of a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness or disability;
Religious belief or practice;
Employment as an election authority, as a member of an election authority, or by an election authority at a location other than such voter's polling place;
Incarceration, provided all qualifications for voting are retained.
Certified participation in the address confidentiality program established under sections 589.660 to 589.681 because of safety concerns.
Voters can request absentee ballots from their local election authority in person, by mail, or by fax. Faxed absentee ballot requests should be submitted to the appropriate local election authority. Relatives within the second degree (spouse, parents and children) may complete an absentee ballot application, in person, on behalf of the voter who wishes to vote absentee.
DO NOT SEND ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE'S OFFICE. ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS MUST BE SENT TO THE APPROPRIATE LOCAL ELECTION AUTHORITY BY THE DEADLINE IN ORDER TO BE VALID.
Contact information for local election authorities and an absentee ballot application form may be found at the links

(28,270 posts)if you meet one of the criteria in my first post you can go to your local election authority and vote before the actual election date.
I'm also new to Missouri as I moved to Cape Girardeau from Washington, DC, in April.
No early voting with the exception of absentee ballot.
After living in DC for 30 years, I will finally get the opportunity to vote for a Senator and Representative since DC has no congressional representation. I'm excited to finally have a voice in Congress or at least vote for a voice.
Of course, Dems all the way! I'm actually surprised at how many Claire signs I see around downtown Cape Girardeau, although it's definitely Red here.

(24,085 posts)for you. We have a lot of Claire signs here in STLMO, so I'm feeling really optimistic for Claire's chances in MO. Josh Hawley has played games w/ the issue of insurance coverage for pre existing conditions, and seems to someone not to trust, especially since I haven't heard him disavow any of rump's ignorant comments on just about everything...if anything, he seems to be a buddy of rump being that rump has been to MO for fund raisers for him. I expect that this won't help him.
Welcome to MO!
I appreciate the welcome. It definitely is a big adjustment especially since I lived in DC for 30 years.
I learned quickly that I need to be careful in casual conversations about politics, especially in sharing my 'not so good' thoughts about Trump. He's been a topic of conversation lately since he is visiting on election eve to rally support for Hawley.
On the plus side, I find the downtown area of Cape where I live is more progressive than I thought it would be and Claire is liked by a lot of folks. I'm hoping she pulls it off on Tuesday and there are no shenanigans with the vote - Hawley would be a disaster for Missouri and the country.
Thanks again for the welcome.

(664 posts)In Kansas City, Missouri. I believe only residents of Jackson County can vote absentee in person there but I am not sure.
You can vote from 8.30am - 5.00pm Mon - Fri, the office does NOT close for lunch.
The office will be open on Saturday, Nov 3rd.
