5 arrested after more than 100 crowd Springfield's Park Central Square in support of abortion rights

Toward the event of the Friday demonstration, police made five arrests following what they said were interactions between protesters and counter-protesters that “turned violent.”

In a news release late Friday, police said they intervened, and while attempting to make an arrest were “assaulted by multiple individuals.”

Cellphone videos of the protest posted to social media appeared to show several of the arrests. In one instance someone can be seen yanking a police officer backward while he assisted in handcuffing a demonstrator.

The same video also appears to show an officer striking the demonstrator being restrained, as well as someone lunging at a third officer.

Depends. the lede says 100 . the article says 100's . so 5% or 2%· not a lot of violence. Kurt V. Jun 2019 #3
