Negligent landlord doesn't show up in court as Bridgeton stands up for tenants with no heat
Vanessilla Henderson needed just one word to characterize the harsh reality at the Bridgeport Crossing Apartments in the months since landlord T.E.H. Realty stopped performing even the most basic maintenance at the complex.
Uninhabitable.
Thats the word Henderson wrote on the memo line in the money order she had made out for last months rent. Shes living with her 23-year-old daughter, Eboni Robinson, at the complex on Natural Bridge Road in Bridgeton. Like two dozen or more of their neighbors, they havent had heat since October.

Hawley visits T.E.H. apartments, calls conditions 'shocking'
BRIDGETON Sen. Josh Hawley on Saturday visited an apartment complex whose owners are under fire for letting thousands of units fall into disrepair, leaving rooms moldy, ceilings collapsed and heaters and air conditioners broken.
Hawley, R-Mo., said he found the conditions "shocking," and called for the landlord, T.E.H. Realty, to be held accountable.
He spoke with several tenants at the Bridgeport Crossing Apartments on Saturday afternoon and toured some apartments, Hawley said on Twitter. Tenants told him of black mold, broken windows, run-down furnaces and busted-down doors.
"We know of over 20 apartments without heat," Hawley wrote.
