Through his words and actions, Josh Hawley has violated the most sacred traditions and customs of the United States Senate, thereby violating his duty of trust to the Senate. His baseless and incessant claims of electoral fraud in the 2020 election were and continue to be incendiary in a polarized political environment.

President Trump was afforded the opportunity to take his case before the judiciary and 61 lawsuits in multiple states were declared without merit, yet Senator Hawley would not cease his claims that the election was fraudulent. His loyalty was to a person, not the nation. The integrity of our historic system of free and fair elections is fundamental to our democracy. Senator Hawley’s baseless insistence on fraud and a “stolen election” violate the public trust and are a clear and present danger to our democracy’s most sacred right.

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦.

🔸 The oath taken by every Senator includes a clause where each Senator swears to protect our nation from enemies foreign and domestic.
🔸 Senator Josh Hawley has proven himself to be an enemy of our electoral process, a proponent of baseless conspiracy theories, and a man immune from the truth.
🔸 His conduct stands to discredit the institution of the United States Senate.

We – concerned bipartisan citizens of Missouri –vehemently reject the arrogant, divisive, and dangerous actions and statements by Senator Hawley. We urge the Senate Ethics Committee to act decisively to enforce its own rules and protect those principles most precious to our democracy AND PROMPTLY REMOVE SENATOR HAWLEY FROM OFFICE, or, at the very least, vote to censure him.
