Ulm buffalo jump is one of world's best

ULM — For hundreds of years, Native Americans stampeded buffalo over the
mile-long cliff, now known as First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park.

The buffalo jump located just outside Ulm is one of the most significant in the
world, according to Roger Semler, assistant administrator for Montana State Parks.

“This park is well known in the cultural resource and archeology community
as one of the most prominent buffalo jumps in the world,” he said.

The jump primarily was used about 1,000 years ago, according to Doug MacDonald,
University of Montana professor and author of “Montana Before History.”
