School board puts real estate swap with city on November ballot

The Belgrade School Board voted Monday to put a proposed real estate swap with the city of Belgrade on the November ballot.

The school board voted 6-1 to put the idea before voters with the trustee Mary Ellen Fitzgerald dissenting.

Under the deal, the city would give city hall, the old library building, Lions Park as well as downtown properties it owns to the school district.

The Belgrade School District would give the old Heck and Quaw school properties to the city which plans on renovating and preserving those buildings and using them for a new city hall and police/public safety headquarters.
