Washoe County election workers train on the VREMS system

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - “The sample signature is the signature you are comparing against,” says instructor Valerie Balen, an elections specialist with the Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office.

We are one hour into a six-hour course for election workers here in Washoe County.

Besides signatures, checking the voter’s identity, and what to do if a mail-ballot is brought in at the same time a voter wants to cast a ballot in-person are all discussed.

And the training has special significance, because, for the first time Washoe County will be using a VREMS system. That stands of Voter Registration and Election Management Solutions.
