A wildfire in North Jersey on Saturday evening is threatening dozens of structures and has already forced road closures, officials said.

The 70-acre fire is burning in the area of Route 10 (Mount Pleasant Avenue) and Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston Township, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said in a statement Saturday at about 6 p.m. At that time, officials said the fire remained 0% contained.

At least 48 structures are threatened and 6 commercial businesses were evacuated amid response efforts, authorities noted.

“The Forest Fire Service is assisting the Livingston Fire Department with 15 engines and 45 firefighters,” the state said, noting the cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.

1. Here in PA we've had about 15 minutes of light rain in the last 2 months.

It is bone dry, autumn leaves are ample kindling for pyromaniacs, there's water conservation alerts. So not surprising to see fires take root rapidly in neighboring NJ. It's scary.
