Tim Kaine’s wife holds town hall in Albuquerque with Clinton supporters

About 60 Hillary Clinton supporters gathered Thursday afternoon for a town hall meeting with Anne Holton, the wife of Clinton’s vice presidential nominee, Tim Kaine.

The intimate setting at the Thomas Bell Community Center in the predominantly black neighborhood off University south of Gibson focused on “education, kids and families.” The hourlong meeting allowed a panel of local education and child welfare advocates and leaders to share the state’s strengths and struggles with Holton, who said she would “take ideas back to Hillary.”

The group discussed the state’s strengths and struggles regarding poverty, generational trauma, extreme testing in public schools, home visiting programs for new parents and child abuse.

The advocates and leaders all said the state needs more money to pay educators properly and fund child welfare programs adequately.
