CO2 pipeline going through Mountainair , NM

Kinder Morgan is in the planning stages of a CO2 pipeline to bring Co2 from 2700 ft underground from the St. Johns Fields in Arizona - through NM - to a distribution center in west texas (for fracking.) This is dense phase CO 2 with a psi of 2100 . A dangerous pipeline because of the pressure and, of course, because co2 is a asphyxiant.

We in the Abo/Mountainair community are fighting it big time esp. me as one possible route would be going about 10 feet from my house.

I think KM thought because we are a small rural town in the middle of NM, that we were country bumpkins. This is an old ranching town but now has many retired intelligent artists and professionals. I must say we are putting up a kick ass fight. We started a Google group, -"Resistiendo- Resist the Pipeline" if any other DU'ers are effected. This pipeline will be going thru Quemado, Roswell, Belen, Mountainair/ABo, Estancia, Los Lunas and I'm not quite sure where else.

I hope you can stop it.
I remember Mountainair as a kid. Then it was pretty much a ghost town. Glad to here it's not now.

With the density of the gas, it acts like a blanket smothering everything in its path. Here's an article if you are not aware of the incident. And this was from a "natural" occurance. you may wish to copy and pass out at your next meeting

Thanks newfie11 for the good wishes. Mountainair is looking good - the local artists have put murals all through the town.

Packman, thanks for the link - I'm passing it on to the group. I have a link about Lake Nyos, but this is a better one.

I really hope you are not insinuating ranchers are not educated, there were many intelligent people in this community before the artists and retiree's came here! True professionals !
