Mayor Mike Spano Exemplifies the ‘Yonkers Way’ of Nurturing Bigotry Under a Smokescreen of Righteousness That is Nothing But a Seduction of His Moral Subterfuge and Bias

The “get along, to get along” culture of sycophants have long inhabited Yonkers City Hall. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano has chosen to live by and embellish the diminished societal standards that he has long accepted. He lives by the code known as the “Yonkers Way”. A code of depravity that affords selective, cherry picking expressions of outrage when it suits his political agenda. He is now the impotent yet lawless autocratic judge and jury distanced from a culture and demeanor that he nurtures in order to diminish the collective good, purpose, and effort of many Yonkersites, despite their being assaulted by his feigned outrage.

People in all societies gravitate to norms that are collectively accepted or imposed. The “Yonkers Way” is an imposition that maligns cohesive societal structure to gain personal power for him and his “yes men” and yes, domination over a society where lies are the “new truth”; where wrong is the “new and revised” political correctness. It is also where vacuous, “double speak” expressions of outrage are meant to chastise those with no other option than to “get along, to get along” or suffer the barrage and assault of words, dismissal from employment, losing out to others who know only how to “kiss ass”.

The labels Mayor Mike Spano and his family of cackling witches do not ascribe to the noxious environment they have demanded people kowtow. They fully understand that while Yonkersites are on their knees they can continue to lord over the City of Yonkers (CoY) with impunity. Mayor Mike Spano and his eldest brother, the disgraced and now former Senator Nick Spano, know full well that the governance they have imposed on CoY can and will likely endure because the “get along, to get along” environment and culture they impose will gain another vote for Term Limits to be extended toward the end of 2017 or at the latest by 2018 despite the barely audible assertions otherwise by the Yonkers City Council membership.

The catalyst for this Hezitorial telling came about because of a news item that was given notice by a media outlet in Westchester County over a photo that had been first allegedly posted on Facebook by Yonkers Fire Fighter Richard LaPeruta. Yonkers Tribune gained access of that photo from people with knowledge of the incident. The photo disturbed me for its blatant and outright bias, demeaning, and evidently manipulated, and derogatory depiction of a man of color sitting on a tree trunk with his hand lovingly placed across the shoulders of a gorilla sitting by his side. A caption suggested that the two of them had passed a civil service exam that had them at the top of the civil service exams, as the one and two top scorers. It reads: “First and second on the YFD test?” Further down the photo it states: “Father reconnects with his son after abandoning him thirteen years earlier.”
