A street in Central Park (NYC) today will be named after Det. Stephen McDonald

McDonald was shot by a 15 year old boy when investigating a crime and was close to death. His wife, Patti, police, and the public rallied around him for years. He was paralyzed and in a wheelchair.

He eventually forgave his assailant with the counsel of Fr. Mychal Judge. That's right, the fire department chaplain who died at 9-11. McDonald and Judge frequently met and prayed together. Stephen McDonald died in peace this past January.

The street naming will ensure his legacy.
