'Look at this f---ing white guy!' bigot yells before brutally attacking man in Bronx pizzeria

A bigoted attacker screamed anti-white statements at a man sitting in a Bronx pizzeria, then punched him in the face and fractured his eye socket, cops said Wednesday.

The 59-year-old victim was sitting at a table in Ray’s Pizza on E. 138th St. at St. Ann’s Ave. in Mott Haven Oct. 6, using his laptop, when another man stormed in and started yelling, police said.

“Look at this f---ing white guy! These f---ing white people think they own the world!” the man bellowed. The victim tried to leave, but the man blocked his path, then punched him in the face, hitting him hard enough to fracture his eye socket and tear his retina, cops said.

The victim, Chris Bilcik, told NBC 4 he’s lived in the neighborhood for 18 years.

7. Hate crimes carry special significance

because they are acts of violence or vandalism designed to cause fear and to intimidate minorities in order to prevent them from demanding equal treatment or to prevent them from being part of society. Yes, this is a crime motivated by hate, but my point is that Fox will use it to try reinforce its viewer's beliefs in white victim-hood.

9. Distinction is not necessarily hypocrisy

How many whites have been publicly lynched by black mobs? This man should be punished, but Fox News uses incidents like this for whataboutism to defend Trump's "many fine people." I think this guy is crazy and full of hate, but it doesn't present the same threat to society as does the Proud Boys or KKK. White people aren't being kept down under the boot of African American intimidation and violence. it's the other way around.

10. The rational behind hate crimes is that the attacker isnt attacking

The victim for a specific reason like a robbery where the assailant targets a person at an atm in an attempt to get cash but the assailant has a problem with a group in general .
A White guy who assaults an african american person because he is an african american is more of a danger because of his propensity to harm people of color. It makes him a greater danger to society in general qnd therefore is deserving of special punishment .
I see no difference between the aforementioned white guy here and the african american who is assaulting a white guy just necause he IS white.
I understand that white groups have cause more harm to african americans but frequency isnt the deciding factor (or at least shoudnt be) what should matter more is the danger to people in general and this is why in this case i believe that this is a hate crime. He didnt have a problem with this one white guy he had a problem with all white people and decided to assault one .

11. I'm not sure, in the case of a minority offender

that a crime motivated by hate is much worse than a crime motivated by anything else. If it rose to the level of insurrection, maybe that would be different.

The added societal problem of minority oppression makes all the difference in the world to me. Why? Because it can strongly affect the whole of society rather than just the single victim and single offender.
