(221,388 posts)They don't look good on most cars - depending on the color. I managed to keep my white and blue plate.

(22,850 posts)Some plates have navy blue numbers and letters on an orange background. Others have blue on white. Some older plates still have the Statue of Liberty on them. Its weird.

(52,216 posts)I want the Statue in the center. The torch is not easily readable at a distance. And I like symmetry.

(24,259 posts)And the Mario Cuomo bridge is a lovely tribute to a great governor, there's a whole lot more to NY state than NYC and just outside it. The entire state is quite diverse in its beauty and rich in history and the 5th one reflects more that.

(24,259 posts)I couldn't for the life of me figure out which bridge it was a pic of so I had to look it up. Since moving to the Seaway Valley I haven't been that far downstate in 20 or so years.
I really liked Mario as a governor and naming the bridge after him is cool but it's not that well known a landmark or all that great a representative of New York STATE.

(221,388 posts)I never heard Mario Cuomo's middle initial before this...

(24,259 posts)I don't recall him being anything other than Governor Mario Cuomo either and I certainly don't think the cost to replace the signs at this point is worth it. At some point the signs will need to be replaced, they can add it then if they want to. geesh
Mario Cuomo certainly deserves a bridge named after him but having the bridge as our primary plate? I'd really prefer one that represents more of our beautiful state and its citizens.

(221,388 posts)I liked that Governor Cuomo a lot too - and can't imagine that he'd support the cost of replacing signs because they left out his middle initial which I don't think most people knew anyway - apparently the point was to make sure that all the signs are "uniform..."
Signs need do-over for want of an 'M'

Most folks don't see what's flat out in front of their face so I doubt a lack of uniformity or lack of an 'M' would even be noticed at all by the vast majority.
If Cuomo wants a pool how about asking NYers if they want to spend tax dollars on fixing signs over this or not.
