Schumer calls for plan to reopen U.S.-Canada border

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for a reopening of the U.S.-Canada border.

Right now, the border is set to remain closed until June 21, but Schumer says leaders need to work on a reopening plan now.

"It seems to me with so many people vaccinated in the United States, and now an increasing number vaccinated in Canada, we could at least let people who are vaccinated cross the border," said Schumer. "It's hurting our economy on both sides of the border."

The northern border closure has been in place since March of last year.
