(48,790 posts)He always started his show by singing the National Anthem with Robert Merrill's recording.
He had great guests and he was a great interviewer.

(7,611 posts)I remember one day he had on Hillary Clinton. I can't exactly recreate his last question but I remember he led her through some long parade of horribles which must have had her dreading the ultimate question that was coming. Then he wound up; "After all that, how did you manage to raise a great kid like Chelsea?"

(40,014 posts)At an electronics shop downtown where he worked. I needed a transformer for a stereo amp that I had brought back with me from Europe and he was the one guy after numerous attempts at multiple shops who immediately understood what I needed. I remember him as rather shy and helpful. I realized it was him after he was arrested up when the shop was mentioned in the papers and the fact that he had attended boarding school in Switzerland for awhile when he was a kid, so my Euro-electrical issue was no mystery to him.
