Cuomo jumps into New York mayor's race, attempting political comeback

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced Saturday afternoon that he’s entering New York City’s mayoral race, adding a big name to the already busy Democratic primary challenging Mayor Eric Adams (D).

“Our city is in crisis. That’s why I am running to be Mayor of New York City,” he wrote on social platform X, along with a video. “We need government to work. We need effective leadership.”

He also included a link to his campaign website.

Cuomo’s entrance comes as little surprise after months of speculation that he would attempt a political comeback years after resigning as governor amid multiple controversies that eventually engulfed his administration.

He ruined one of the best programs NY ever had for disabled children. It was also the program that provided half my income. I hated him then.

Then he was a literal hero during Covid. He was the lone voice of reason in a sea of "put a light up your ass" imbecility. He was out there every day giving us facts. At the time when my neighborhood was ground zero for the treatment of Covid and the sirens were blaring 24/7 and the local skating rink was made into an overflow morgue and we had nothing to fight it with, he kept me sane. That's not hyperbole.

Then he was revealed as a sexist scumbag. I was not opposed to his resignation.

But we are in a crisis. We need a bulldog. We need a guy with dirty hands who knows how to fight Mump.

I no longer live in the city, but I'm still close enough that the city's policies affect me every day. I can't vote for him but I hope he wins.

I know people think that's awful, but there it is.

He is a Machiavellian thug who governed by press release, and a creep. There were parties in the State offices in Albany when he resigned. He undeniably was responsible for the IDC coup that cost Democrats control of the Senate. He is the same as Trump — a wannabe tyrant — and thinks he’s running for President in 2028. https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2016/05/another-cuomo-noninterference-story-falls-apart-049022

Last I looked (some time ago) he was living either in Albany or in one of those counties along the Hudson
