A $30 millionexpansion at Bayer CropScience’s Research Triangle Park is the “next logical step,” says CEO Jim Blome.

And it’s a long time coming.

Two years ago, the plant science firm moved the global headquarters for its biotechnology business from Europe to RTP.

And, also two years ago,the company paid $6.2 million for the property directly north of its RTP campus – a deal that, at the time, ranked as one of the highest land prices paid in the region.

Today’s announcement is the direct result of those strategy plays, he says.
