CLEVELAND, Ohio The chairman of the New Black Panthers Party said members will carry guns this week during protests and demonstrations in the run-up to the Republican National Convention, according to a report from Reuters.
Hashim Nzinga said his members will carry guns in self-defense and to protect other protesters, the news agency reported.
"If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our second amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us," Nzinga told Reuters.
"If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms."

(116,854 posts)The Cleveland police force was already unnerved prior to the incident in Dallas and openly carrying weapons in the current atmosphere is definitely provocative and a poor decision.

(5,737 posts)The white supremacy groups and gun rights groups will all most certainly be openly carrying.

(116,854 posts)There are going to be so many guns at the RNC that we can expect some type of incident. Meanwhile, Trump will be inside the convention center announcing that he will be the "law and order" candidate.

What I worry about is more panicky cops.

(60,953 posts)They too will be armed and dangerous. Worry more about the Trumpsters than the cops.

BTW- Has the NRA made a statement about how Open Carry effected Dallas police response time? The mix up of the number of shooters?

Kasich will be in Cleveland, but not attending the Repub. convention, he says, (though ready to become an alternative nominee if asked.)
Kasich can order out the National guard, I'm thinking.

John Kasich and his legislative puppets can pat themselves on the back for making Ohio open carry. Too bad we all have to deal with the implications of that.
