Big-money donor turns on Hamilton County GOP. What does $50K gift to Democrats mean?

As new Democratic judges continue to take office in Hamilton County, Republicans are left to wonder if it was one of their own who helped put all those Dems on the bench.

After all, the Democratic judicial candidates' largest collective campaign donation last year came from long-time major GOP donor Chuck Kubicki – an astonishing $50,000 gift at a time when Republicans are losing power in a blue-trending county.

The Cincinnati real estate developer's donation to the Democrats' judicial fund seems even more head-scratching when considering his son, Charles Kubicki Jr., is a sitting Republican common pleas court judge.

Did Chuck Kubicki make the donation to try to keep the Democrats from running anyone against his son in 2020? It'll be a tough election for Hamilton County Republicans with Donald Trump expected at the top of the ticket.

The super rich have frequently given money to both sides so that whoever won was in their orbits. The lindner family was routinely the biggest donor to both Dems and Republicans. They just gave three times more to Republicans.

If you give money to both parties everyone owes you a favor.
