Ohio citizens are quickly slipping away from COVID-19 Protocols.

Yesterday, as an RN, I was doing a home visit on a retired Veteran...I was donning double surgical mask and gown, disinfected work surface, equipment pre-post accessing client, hand washing/ hand sanitizer.. …. A knock came to the door, the wife answered ...she is early 70's. We were in the kitchen and I heard the wife state loudly, " We don't want anything, No, not now"...twice she said this...so, I get up and address the concerns...At first, wife said she thought it was a Census Taker...

It was someone going door-to-door, didn't flash ID, wanting to take a survey... neat looking young fella in mid to late 20's. NO MASK was my first red flag alert...I step in between client's wife and fella dressed in my COVID-19 garb, who then stepped back on the porch...I said, "Where is your mask? You need to put it on now". I said this 3 times, quickly and he said, " I just need to go over this survey it won't take long"...I said," No mask, no survey " and slammed the door...

The wife and I watched from the window as he left...he walked down the street....going to the next house.

SO, now we have door-to-door survey takers going house to house without any COVID-19 Precautions! None!... They are potential vectors for COVID-19 and spreading COVIDS! Insane! I shake my head, knowing that this is now contaminating this neighborhood...

I have been teaching all my clients and their families the COVID-19 Precautions...yet, even an unsuspecting event can pop-up and cause havoc! I share this so that others who are doing their best can still be blindsided by the ignorant deniers.

A young man selling insulation with a paper looking official. I kept my distance but will check my Ring Doorbell next time.

2. Thanks for the warning. Thank goodness I don't hear well, so if they bang on the door or ring...

the doorbell, I won't hear it, thus, I ignore the summons totally (unknowingly, a good thing, eh?).

This doesn't sound right, or, rump demanded that all federal workers work w/o protection (I know census workers are temp. workers but still).

3. I just jumped right in there!

I didn't think twice...we laughed a little afterwards...yet, the anxiety was there for both wife and client....Wife is going to post a sign on the door today...NO Mask...go away!

4. Good idea. I have one (a posting) that I'm extremely hard of hearing, so knock real loud, etc.

I still am barely able to hear anything, the dogs I have are much better at catching someone at the door, but in 99% of the time, I ignore. No one is supposed to be at my front door unless invited by me. Otherwise, I ignore. They can't say that I am being rude or such, being that they already know that I can't hear worth a crap. And in 100% of the time I do answer, it is junk, period. Buy this, buy that, whatever. Don't ever answer the door is a good motto of mine, the same thing w/ my phone too, don't answer. So, I'm lucky if I get a phone call during the week.

A good motto. Don't answer the door, don't answer the phone.

You don't get onto a list of some sort, thus saving you hassle long term, from both. The same thing could also apply to emails, especially junk ones, don't ever, ever, answer them or even respond to them (like the phone), if they know that they got even a response, they'll just pick up the pace and call you even more.

Most important stuff such as papers etc. come in the mail anyways.

5. We were away from the house

And got a notification on the phone that someone was at the front door. It was a young man on a Segway that walked up on the porch, rang the doorbell, stepped off of the porch (social distancing?) waited for a bit then left. No mask in sight. Maybe he had one stuffed in his pocket but it wasn’t evident. You’d think if he had one that he’d put it on before ringing the bell, in anticipation of someone coming to the door.

6. I didn't think this was even going to be an issue until...it was!

Maybe since the " lock down" is essentially over we need to step up our awareness in a defensive fashion! It is only going to get worse....like the " Wild, Wild West" for COVID-19 Protections.

7. this was my solution...

at my place of business (which is closed for now and will remain that way for a while)
I STILL go in to work to do administrative tasks etc.
my car is out frot, and it is obvious I am there (relatively small town)
I have signs posted that the building is not open to the public at this time:
I lock the handle on the front door just in case somebody wants to waltz in

THEN I put a notice up> after someone indeed tried to just walk up and walk in

If I am in the building working, I cannot answer your knock on the door
Due to the pandemic, I must take all precautions, including social distancing
so I cannot come face-to-face with anyone.
If I am here, please call the phone #, and I will certainly take your call

I think I'll put one on my front door as well

8. I see it too.

I wear my mask when I go out. Several people did for the last month, too. But now, at Meijer, at Home Depot, or Kroger, I see fewer masks on faces. Lots are full of cars, too. It scares me.

9. Had a guy selling exterminating services come to our door last week.

No mask, young guy, probably in his twenties. To his credit, he stepped back to at least six feet when I opened the door, but still. They should not be doing this door-to-door stuff right now, especially when they're not masking to do it, you're right.

10. Makes us have to be on constant alert.
