Why did not the Ohio Democratic party do opposition research?
Why did Ryans' people do no opposition research?
How did so much information about Vances' skeevy past the Columbus Dispatch, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer and the rest of the state wide print & tv stations?

(34,903 posts)Ohio Democrats need to step it up. I have thought this for a long time.
DeWine will leave office in 2026 and I cant think of one Ohio Democrat at this time with experience and name recognition who could successfully run against Husted, LaRose, or Yost. Sad.

snip-"The Ohio Democratic Party sent Spectrum News a statement about the outlook ahead of 2026. Were focused on the U.S. Senate race and the down ballot races for 2024, as those races will have significant consequences for Ohio voters, it read.
Cohen said the Democrats strategy for the governors seat will likely hinge on Sen. Sherrod Browns current run for re-election.
If he loses, I think if hes not ready to be done with politics, I think without a doubt, he would consider running for the governors office, Cohen said.
Some other potential Democratic governor candidates include House Minority Leader Allison Russo, former Congressman Tim Ryan, and Judge Jennifer Brunner."

(34,903 posts)I would love to see any of those three Dems mentioned as our Governor especially Ryan since he was my Congressman for so many years, but I wasnt sure if he would want to run for statewide office again.
Ohio Dems really need to call out the Rs connection to the First Energy bribery case.

snip-"Washington Three vulnerable Senate Democrats plan to skip next week's Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where members of their party will gather to celebrate Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee.
Sens. Jon Tester of Montana, Jacky Rosen of Nevada and Sherrod Brown of Ohio will be absent as Democrats convene for the four-day event, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News. Instead, they will be in their states talking to voters, as all three are in tight races that could determine control of the Senate."

(285 posts)They are all in hotly contested reelection campaigns, no need to give their opponents more fodder. Better to stay home and, crucially, KEEP CAMPAIGNING. Get out there, knock on doors, meet with constituents, work the crowds at campaign events. WIN THOSE SEATS!!!

(448 posts)e.g. Cleveland paper removed the union. Ability means nothing. They rather come up with the en best milkshakes in town.
Teevee stations don't go after the stranglehold of corruption Republicans have state wide. They are more interested about county workers sleeping on the job, in their work vehicles.
2. Ohio has been a southern state for some time. The state wide officers are beyond hyper partisan. Mendacity rules. Corporate interests get whatever they want. Even when caught, they are not prosecuted. Although a couple Speakers of the House were indicted, convicted, and sent to a graybar hotel. Citizen initiated ballot issues are sabotaged (Larose, Yost), orignored when passed. Ohio is maybe 56% Repuke voting, thanks to all that, and gerrymandering, the legislature has super majorities. The only statewide Democratic office holder is US Senator Brown. Surprisingly, Ohio has recenty a couple of Democrats on the state supreme court, and most surprisingly and honest Republican (O'Connor) who had to retire at mandatory age 70.
